Excellent location and friendly staff
Excellent location and very friendly mostly volunteer staff. The woman who runs the place is very nice and proactive. Rooms are large and have a separate toilet and shower. The mission of the hostel to give back to the local,community and to be very green is a strong selling pints IMO.
The keypad entry system has some drawbacks. The code sent for my room was incorrect which I didn’t know (when I checked in one of the workers walked me to the room and opened it) until the first night when I had to wait about 10 minutes until a girl sleeping in the room got tired of me entering the wrong code (beeping loudly) and let me in. Prior to that, my phone died when I was walking around the city so I couldn’t pull up the main door code. I was outside on the street for over 30 minutes because no one responded to the door bell or me calling up to the open window. Apparently no one was on duty at that time and the guests in the kitchen were “afraid” to come down and open the door. I finally got some passers by to call the number on the door but got no answer. Luckily they tried to text and the owner remotely unlocked the door for me. It’s on me that I let my phone die, but perhaps a better system could be in place since this type of thing does happen. No A/C in the rooms and the room got very stale and hot at night. Very small common area.

Wonderful
Easy access to everything. .The metro,bolhao market is a must with a lot of choices of different kinds of foods tasting a wine is a must too cafe, and restaurants mall across the road.Its clean .I enjoyed my stay.
